Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State took a hard loss
to Bowling Green, 6-3 Saturday, to even the Central Collegaite
Hockey Association First Round Playoff series at 1-1. The Falcons
(14-19-5) and Lakers (17-19-1) will be back in action Sunday at
7:05 p.m. with the series-deciding game.
LSSU freshman defenseman Eric Drapluk (4-9--13) landed the puck
between the pipes with a power-play goal at 7:48 of the first
period while defensive partner Kevin Czuczman (2-9--11)
notched the assist. BGSU tied the game 1-1 at 13:37 on a goal
by Ryan Peltoma.
At 9:32 of the second period Bowling Green led 3-1 over the
Lakers. Drapluk made it a 3-2 game at 11:08. Nick McParland
(6-17--23) and Colin Campbell (0-3--3) had the assists.
The Falcons tallied two more unanswered goals in the second
period, giving them a 5-2 lead heading into the third.
Chris Ciotti (11-8--19) netted the second power-play goal of the
night at 7:53 from Dan Radke (5-16--21) and Zach Sternberg
(5-14--21). BGSU's Bobby Shea scored last goal of the game
with an empty-net shot.
Six different players scored goals for BGSU. Center Ryan
Carpenter led the Falcons in points with 1-2--3 and improved his
season point total to a team-leading 16-15--31.
Kevin Murdock (10-12-0) suffered the loss for the Lakers,
playing two full periods and making 17 saves. Kevin Kapalka stopped
nine shots on goal during the third period for LSSU. Andrew Hammond
(9-13-3) made 21 saves for BGSU in the win.
The Lakers were 2-for-6 on the power-play and held BGSU to
0-for-4.
