SAULT STE. MARIE - Ferris State won two of three close decisions
in doubles to take the early lead and held on for a 5-4 victory
during Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
men's tennis match at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
FSU (3-11 overall, 2-2 GLIAC) claimed a 9-7 victory at No. 1
doubles and an 8-6 win at No. 3. LSSU's Grant Link and Francis
Nadeau won 8-5 at No. 2, cutting the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1 heading
into singles matches.
Ferris State's Laurent Galarneau edged Pedro Nunes, 4-6, 6-0,
6-3 at No. 1 singles to extend the Bulldogs' lead to 3-1.
Lake Superior State (9-8 overall, 2-2 GLIAC) fought back with
wins at No. 2 (Nadeau), No. 4 (Link) and No. 5 (Kyle Koster) to
split singles, 3-3.
Link and Koster both posted three-set decisions. Neadeau
improved to 15-2 in singles for the season and 27-7 overall.
LSSU plays host to Grand Valley State at 10 a.m. Sunday.
