SAULT STE. MARIE - Winning only one of three doubles matches
again proved costly for the Lake Superior State men's tennis team,
which suffered its second straight 5-4 loss on its home court.
Grand Valley State claimed the one-point decision during Sunday's
match at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
LSSU's Grant Link and Francis Nadeau topped off a perfect
weekend with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and victories at Nos. 2
and 3 singles. Link, playing in the third spot, garnered a 6-4,
3-6, 6-4 win to improve to 11-7 in singles. Nadeau upped his record
to 16-2 for the season.
Pedro Nunes won 6-4, 7-6 to improve to 9-7 at No. 1 singles and
10-8 overall.
The Lakers (9-9 overall, 2-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) travel to Northwood on March 29. Grand Valley
State, which is ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region, is 12-5
overall and 4-1 in the GLIAC.
