SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State defeated the
Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-2. In
the doubles competition, the Lakers won all three contests to
complete the doubles sweep over the Huskies.
Francis Nadeau teamed up with partner Grant Link in the second doubles slot to improve their
season record to 14-7 after the 9-8 victory over Nick Kremkow and
Built Yumuang. The number one slot partner pairing of Pedro Nunes and Felix DeSharnais improved to 12-9 on the season with
their 9-7 victory over Felipe Dos Santos and Pedro Rodriguez.
Rounding out the doubles portion it was Kyle Koster and Ryne
DuShane defeating Bryan Bartelt and Jimmy Konarske 8-4.
Nadeau battled to another tight victory in the second singles
spot, which would turn out to be the deciding victory for the
Lakers, when he faced Rodriguez, defeating his counter-part in
three sets that had to be decided in a tie-breaker 6-2, 4-6, 7-6.
DeSharnais and Koster both looked solid as well for the Lakers
earning singles victories in the fourth and fifth slot,
respectively. DeSharnais defeated Kremkow 6-4, 6-0 and Koster
defeated Konarske 6-2, 6-3. Rounding out the singles victories was
DuShane in the six hole with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 victory against
Bartelt.
The Lakers complete their season this weekend with three
straight home matches. The Lakers face Findlay on April 10, Ohio
Dominican on April 11, and close their season against Tiffin on
April 12.
