Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Lake Superior State women's basketball dropped the second-straight game on the weekend road trip against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Walsh on Saturday, 66-50.
A tight game for the first three quarters, slipped away from the Lakers (2-6, 1-3 GLIAC) during the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers (5-2, 3-1 GLIAC) outscored the Lakers 20-7 during the final 10 minute frame to close out the victory.
Mackenzie Edwards led the Lakers in scoring with 13 points and also contributed three assists and three rebounds.
Forward Natalie Peterson chipped in nine points for the Lakers along with two rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Lakers shot 52.6 percent (10-19) from three-point range in the game but committed 26 turnovers, including 14 in the second half.
The Cavaliers were led by Kelsey Funderburgh with a game-high 15 points and Holly Grober with 13 points. Funderburgh contributed three rebounds and three steals.
Next week the Lakers will cap the 2015 calendar year with an appearance in the Florida Southern Holiday Classic. The Lakers will face Livingstone on Dec. 17 before taking on tournament host Florida Southern on Dec. 18.
