Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - The eighth-ranked Michigan Tech women's
basketball team, coming off Thursday's overtime loss at Northwood,
needed some time to regain its dominating form, but did so with a
vengence during the second half Saturday at Lake Superior
State.
The Huskies (23-2 overall, 19-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) shot 71.4 percent during the second half to
come back from a 25-22 halftime deficit and beat LSSU, 72-61. MTU
shot only 25 percent during the second half, ending the period with
a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Kelli Guy.
LSSU (7-18 overall, 3-18 GLIAC), celebrating Senior Day for
Kandace Crittendon and Stephanie Fisher, played a solid game other
than giving up a 21-6 run during a seven-minute stretch in the
second half.
Crittendon led the Lakers with 19 points, seven rebounds and
three assists. Fisher followed with 15 points. LSSU shot 41.5
percent from the field, including 3-of-11 from three-point range,
and made 14-of-18 free throws.
Guy led MTU with 20 points, and Danielle Blake followed with 13.
Morgan Anderson scored 11 and Jillian Ritche 10. Blake led
MTU rebounders with seven. Both teams totaled 35 rebounds.
Michigan Tech shot 45.3 percent from the field, including
8-of-19 from three-point range, and made 6-of-10 free throws. The
Huskies were 6-of-8 from behind the arc during the second half.
Lake Superior State closes its season Feb. 26 at Northwood.
