SAULT STE. MARIE- Lake Superior State men's tennis honored their three senior tennis players prior to Saturday morning's match against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference rivals Michigan Tech. The Lakers (2-14, 0-7 GLIAC) and coach Tom Linhart honored Grant Link, TJ Meyers, and Luke Ogren for their dedication to Laker Tennis prior to their final home bout at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center, in which the visiting Huskies won 5-4.
Meyers, along with doubles partner Jake Prime, earned the Lakers their lone victory in the doubles competition. Meyers and Prime combined for an 8-2 victory over Iliya Chibirev and Luke Doskey in No. 3 Doubles.
Link, Meyers, and Ogren each earned singles victories over their competitors in their final home match, however those victories were all the Lakers could muster in Singles. Link in No. 3 Singles went three sets before defeating Built Yumuang 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Meyers and Ogren defeated Iliya Chibirev 7-5, 7-5 in No. 5 Singles and Luke Doskey 6-4, 6-4 in No. 6 Singles respectively.
The Lakers will conclude their season with a road trip next weekend as they face Wayne State and Northwood (April 18-19).
