Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE – Eleventh-ranked Ashland, which leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in women's basketball scoring offense and scoring defense, stayed true to form during Sunday's 77-47 victory over Lake Superior State.
The Eagles (12-0 overall, 6-0 GLIAC) limited the Lakers to their lowest point total since a Nov. 21 67-46 loss to Minnesota-Duluth. They commanded the boards, 43-29.
Ashland led the scoring every quarter, building a 38-25 halftime lead and extending it to 54-34 at the end of three quarters. Laina Snyder totaled 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Eagles. Julie Worley added 13 points and five rebounds, and Andi Daugherty finished with 12 points.
Daugherty (15.5 points per game) and Snyder (14.7 ppg) rank fourth and ninth in the GLIAC in scoring, respectively.
Ashland shot 44.9 percent from the field, including 6-of-17 from three-point range, and made 9-of-9 free throws. The Eagles committed only nine turnovers.
Mackenzie Edwards scored 11 points and Tamara Novic had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Lake Superior State (3-9 overall, 2-4 GLIAC). The Lakers shot 34 percent from the field, including 7-of-23 from three-point range, and made 6-of-10 free throws.
