BIG RAPIDS, Mich.- The Lake Superior State men's tennis team visited Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival and No.25-ranked Ferris State on Sunday morning falling to the Bulldogs, 9-0.
With the loss, LSSU slips to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in league competition. FSU improves to 12-2, 2-0.
In the doubles portion, No. 1 doubles, Ieuan Lister and Diego Penz lost 8-5. At No. 2 doubles, Jake Prime and Luis Valderrama lost 8-1, and at No. 3 doubles, Joe Gilman and Pete Summers lost 8-3.
In singles play, Lake State couldn't slow down the Bulldogs as they swept all five matches. At No. 1 singles, Gilman lost 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Prime lost in a third set tiebreak, 6-1, 3-6, 10-7,
No. 3 singles, Lister lost, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, Penz lost 6-3, 6-2, No. 5 singles, Valderrama lost 6-3, 7-6 (2), and at No. 6 singles, Seth Pinnoo lost 6-0, 6-0.
Lake Superior is on the road next week as they take on Upper Peninsula rival, Michigan Tech. The match starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday (March 31).
After Michigan Tech, it is senior weekend as we honor our four seniors. Davenport is coming to town on April 7 and Purdue Northwest on April 8. Saturday's match starts at 10 a.m. and Sunday's match starts at 11 a.m.
