Men's Tennis Falls at Tiffin, Miss GLIAC Tournament Berth

TIFFIN, Ohio- Lake Superior State men's tennis team traveled south to take on Tiffin University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt with the winner securing the final spot in the conference tournament. The Lakers battled but couldn't hold off the Dragons falling, 6-3.

With the loss, the Lakers fall to a record of 7-8 overall and 2-5 in league competition. Tiffin improves to 11-12, 3-5 to clinch the last spot in the conference tournament.

In doubles, No. 1 pairing, Ieuan Lister and Diego Penz lost to the No. 41 ranked team in the nation (9-7), No. 2 doubles, Jake Prime and Luis Valderrama lost a close match (8-6). At No.3 doubles, Joe Gilman and Peter Summers lost (5-8).

In the singles portion, No. 1 singles, Gilman lost (6-2, 6-4). No. 2 singles, Prime lost (6-2, 6-2), No. 3 singles, Luis Valderrama won (6-3, 7-5).

Lister at No. 4 singles lost (7-5, 6-3), at No. 5 singles, Penz won his match (6-2, 6-1). Summers at No. 6 singles won (6-1, 6-0).

Lake Superior State travels to Detroit to play Wayne State University tomorrow at 10 a.m. Wayne State has an overall record of 11-10 and a conference record of 4-2.
