ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lake Superior State University men's basketball team (4-8, 3-1 GLIAC) fell to the Lewis Flyers (5-7, 1-4 GLVC) on the road by a final score of 74-53 on Wednesday.

The Flyers would get off to a quick start, jumping out to an early 6-2 lead, but multiple baskets from Caden Ebeling (Shelby Twp., Mich.) and David Wren (Ypsilanti, Mich.) propelled the Lakers to a 13-2 run to go up 15-8. Lewis was able to come back and tie the score at 18-18, but the Lakers would once again push back out ahead for a six-point lead. The Flyers managed to go on a 10-2 run of their own to retake the lead, but a jumper from Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) tied up the score at 28-28 going into the halftime break. 

Both teams would battle early in the second half, including a three-pointer from Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) to retake the lead, but Lewis would pull out ahead with a 9-0 run before Wren drew a foul and converted a pair at the line. The Lakers would continue to grind their way to the free throw line, but the Flyers always seemed to have an answer. However, despite a pair of threes from Devin Womack (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Lewis was able to hold on to win the game by a final score of 74-53.

Ebeling led the way offensively for the Lakers with 15 points, and Xander Okerlund (Empire, Mich.) joined him in double-digit scoring with ten points of his own. 

The Lakers return to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 7 when they travel to take on the Ferris State Bulldogs with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
