TIFFIN, Ohio - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (0-5) fell to the Tiffin Dragons (3-1) by a final score of 49-35 on Thursday.
The Dragons were able to take the early lead, but the Lakers responded with a pair of baskets inside from Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.). Malia Thelen (Portland, Mich.) would then hit a three before another layup from Bradford to trim the lead down to six after ten minutes of action.Â
Bradford carried the momentum into the second quarter with a pair of quick buckets to have the Lakers back within two. However, the Dragons were able to extend their lead back out to nine going into the halftime break.Â
In the second half, the Lakers regained some momentum as Jaden Wilder (Manton, Mich.) drove inside for the layup and the foul, and Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.) raced down the court for a three at the end of the third quarter to keep her team within five. However, despite another fast break three from Golden, Tiffin was able to hold on to close out the victory.Â
Despite the loss, Bradford ended the night with her fourth-consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, in 14 minutes of action, Iara Navarro (Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina) was able to use her size to her advantage, blocking three shots while also picking up a steal.Â
The Lakers will now prepare to face the Walsh Cavaliers on Saturday, Nov. 23 with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
