ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) hockey team (5-6-1) earned a 4-2 victory over the Alaska-Anchorage (UAA) Seawolves (2-9-1) on Sunday behind a pair of goals from Timo Bakos (Augsburg, Germany).
Bakos got the Lakers on the board early, finding the back of the net at the 3:55 mark of the opening period with an assist from Connor Milburn (Kamloops, B.C.), and Sasha Teleguine (North Attleborough, Mass.) secured the loose puck out of a scrum for an unassisted goal to double up the score five minutes later. However, UAA was able to cut the lead in half at the 13:03 mark as Ryan Johnson scored his third power play goal of the weekend.Â
In the second period, Bakos was able to direct in the eventual game winner off of a feed from Nate Schweitzer (Champlin, Minn.) with Dawson Tritt (Spokane, Wash.) also picking up an assist on the play to extend his point streak to six games, tying his career high.Â
The Seawolves were able to tack on one more off of a shorthanded breakaway 4:19 into the third period, but John Herrington (Hudson's Hope, B.C.) sniped his first goal of the season for the insurance as the Lakers secured the win to wrap up their nonconference slate.
The Lakers will resume CCHA action on Friday, Nov. 29 when they travel to face St. Thomas with puck drop scheduled for 8:07 p.m. Eastern Time.
