SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (5-9, 2-6 GLIAC) fell to No. 1 Grand Valley State (GVSU) (15-1, 6-0 GLIAC) by a final score of 104-48 on Saturday.
GVSU was able to strike first, but a three from CeCe Hacker (Omaha, Neb.) put her team ahead by one. However, Grand Valley was able to pull ahead and seize the momentum. LSSU kept fighting with threes from Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) and Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.), but they still found themselves trailing at the half.
LSSU was able to put together a 9-2 run in the second half that featured a three from Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.). However, Grand Valley was able to hold Lake Superior State at bay to secure the victory.
LSSU will look to bounce back on Thursday, Jan. 16 when they travel to face the Pride of Purdue Northwest with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Central Time.
