SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team (5-12, 2-7 GLIAC) fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies (8-9, 5-4 GLIAC) by a final score of 101-52 on Thursday.
The Huskies got off to an early lead, but the Lakers kept fighting with a three from Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) and a pair of buckets inside by Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.). The Lakers continued to battle, but despite a three from Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.) and a late jumper inside by Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.), the Huskies managed to press ahead for a 55-25 lead at the break.
Bradford came out strong in the third quarter with six of the Lakers' first eight points of the half. Then, in the fourth quarter, both teams continued to trade baskets, but it would ultimately not be enough as the Huskies held on to claim the victory.
Despite the loss, Bradford led the way offensively with 13 points and 9 rebounds while Golden and Maddie Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) also finished in double figures with 12 points of their own.Â
The Lakers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they host the Northern Michigan Wildcats with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
