HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (5-19, 2-14 GLIAC) fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies (10-14, 7-9 GLIAC) by a final score of 75-62 on Saturday.
Both teams battled early on as a three from Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) had the Lakers within two midway through the opening quarter, but despite a three from Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.), the Huskies found themselves ahead after ten minutes of action.
Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) let it fly from beyond the arc early in the second quarter to keep her team within striking distance, but Michigan Tech managed to pull ahead going into the break.Â
The Lakers came out strong to open the second half with a three from Taylor Clarey (Rochester, Minn.) followed by multiple jumpers from Golden. Bradford would then continue to leave her mark on the game before drilling a three that pushed her past the 1,000-point milestone for her career. LSSU continued to trim the lead in the fourth quarter with a 13-2 run that featured a three from Stacy and an and-one from Golden, but Michigan Tech was ultimately able to hold on to secure the win.Â
Bradford led the way offensively for the Lakers with 16 points, and Golden was not far behind with 15 points of her own. CeCe Hacker (Omaha, Neb.) also ended the day scoring double figures with 10.Â
