HOUGHTON, Mich. - The #16 Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's basketball team (27-5) earned a decisive 93-76 victory over the No. 3 seed Ferris State Bulldogs (24-8) in the GLIAC Semifinals on Saturday to advance to the 2025 GLIAC Men's Basketball Championship Game.

The Bulldogs were able to strike first, but Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) countered with a pair of jumpers inside to take the lead. Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) would then explode for four threes to quickly push his team out to an 18-7 advantage.  The Bulldogs grinded their way back to within five, but the Lakers continued to let it fly with multiple threes from Soper and Andy Soma (Traverse City, Mich.) to push the lead back out to double digits as the Lakers took a 52-42 lead into the break.

Ferris State came out swinging to start the second half, getting back to within five once again, but the Lakers weathered the storm, using a Soma and-one to swing back the momentum, and LSSU proceeded to use runs of 7-2 and 8-0 to go ahead by 16. Edmondson would then fully unleash himself on the game, scoring seemingly at will for several baskets to help lift his team to a 26-point margin before the Lakers began to ease up to close out the victory.

Edmondson led all players in scoring on the night with 29 points, and Soper added 20 of his own while also rejecting three shots and notching a steal as well. Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Soma, and Adam Harakow were also able to finish the day in double figures with 13, 12, and 10 points, respectively while Perkins also secured 10 rebounds for the double-double.

The Lakers will now turn their attention to the GLIAC Championship game when they face the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Sunday, March 9 with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
