Grace Bradford Sets LSSU Record With 1,001st Career Rebound

Grace Bradford's place in Lake Superior State University history has been secured, along with the senior's 1,000th and 1,001st career rebounds during Thursday night's game at the SDC Gymnasium in Houghton, MI against Michigan Tech.

Bradford, a senior from Maple City, MI, passed the school record - an even 1,000 - set by Marti Wallace ('83), a Class of 1997 Hall of Fame Inductee at LSSU, and now holds the school's all-time rebounding record. She snagged a Michigan Tech miss with 2:42 remaining in the GLIAC contest's first quarter to break the career mark.

In her Laker tenure, Bradford has been the Lakers' rock. A regular double-double, she's averaged 13.4 points per game for LSSU and 9.8 rebounds per game. She set a career-high in rebounds per game during her sophomore campaign, pulling in an incredible 10.8 boards per game.

A remarkably consistent player, she's also had several jaw-dropping totals in her Laker career. Bradford set her career-high in rebounds with 22 earlier this season, on December 15th against Walsh. She'd grabbed 18 against Davenport in the previous game, then followed up those games with 13 and 10 against Illinois-Springfield and Upper Iowa respectively. Bradford snatched an astounding 21 rebounds against Davenport on February 22nd, 2024. She opened the 2023-24 season with double-digit rebounds in her first seven games.

As a first-year player, Bradford started immediately, delivering a nine point, 11 rebound effort in her first collegiate game against Findlay on November 11th, 2022. Since that time, Bradford has started every game she's appeared in, except for one, and appeared in her 100th game last Saturday against Roosevelt. She posted an 18 point, five rebound line in that game.

Wallace remains one of Lake Superior State's basketball icons as her 43-year old record falls to Grace Bradford.
