NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Ninth-ranked Notre Dame scored four
unanswered goals to pull away from Lake Superior State and win Game
2 of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association series, 5-2,
Saturday at the Joyce Center.
LSSU junior Zac MacVoy scored an unassisted short-handed goal to
give the Lakers a 2-1 lead at 15:09 of the first period. Notre Dame
(7-3-1 overall, 3-2-1-1 CCHA) shut down Lake Superior State's
attack the rest of the way.
UND's Erik Condra tied it, 2-2, with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at
19:44 of the opening period. Christiaan Minella tallied the
game-winner at 12:14 of the second period. Teddy Ruth, Calle
Ridderwall and Billy Maday also scored for the Irish. Ridderwall
finished with a goal and two assists.
Josh Sim tallied LSSU's first goal of the game at 5:06 of the
first period. Tyson Hobbins drew the only assist.
MacVoy extended his goal-scoring streak to 10 games with his
goal.
LSSU goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson totaled 34 saves, while
Jordan Pearce totaled 20 saves for UND.
Notre Dame finished 2-for-7 on the power play held the Lakers to
0-for-4.
Lake Superior State (3-4-3 overall, 3-3-2-1 CCHA) plays a
non-conference home series Nov. 21-22 against Robert Morris.

Note: An assist for Troy Schwab was added to Sim's goal during
Friday's 3-3 tie.
