Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio - The Lake Superior State men's basketball team
concluded the regular season with a 70-56 loss at 10th-ranked
Findlay on Saturday. The Lakers (15-11 overall, 9-10 Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) will be the seventh seed in
the GLIAC Tournament, and make a return trip to Findlay to play the
No. 2 seed Oilers on Wednesday, March. 2.
Derek Billing totaled 13 points and five assists, and Andrew
Charlesworth scored 11 points to lead LSSU. Justin Williams
finished with 10 points. Derek Kinney contributed six points and a
team-high eight rebounds.
Findlay (23-3 overall, 16-3 GLIAC), which scored 16 points off
LSSU turnovers, led 33-29 at halftime. The Oilers went on a 12-4
run to build a 63-51 command with 3:47 remaining in the game. Kyle
Caida scored 16 points, and Jack Smith and Brad Piehl added 15 each
to lead UF.
Lake Superior State shot 51 percent from the field, including
8-of-14 from three-point range, and made 8-of-12 free throws.
Findlay shot 52 percent from the field, including 8-of-23 from
behind the arc, and made 16-of-19 free throws. The Oilers
outrebounded the Lakers, 23-20.
Other GLIAC Tournament pairings have No. 8 Saginaw Valley State
at No. 1 Ferris State, No. 5 Hillsdale at No. 4 Wayne State, and
No. 6 Michigan Tech at No. 3 Grand Valley State.
