Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio - The Lake Superior State men's basketball season
ended Wednesday with a 73-56 loss at Findlay, which won its 105th
straight home game.
The Oilers (24-3), who were the No. 2 seed in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, led 41-25 at halftime. They
extended the lead to 60-35 during the first 10 minutes of the
second half.
Sophomore guard Khalid Wells totaled 17 points and three
assists, and senior center Justin Williams compiled 12 points
and six rebounds to lead Lake Superior State (15-12). Freshman
guard Derek Billing, who leads the GLIAC in steals, added 11
points, three assists and two steals. Williams, who was 6-of-10
from the field, tops the league in field-goal percentage.
Kyle Caiola totaled 15 points and five assists to lead Findlay.
Four Oilers scored in double figures. UF shot 46.3 percent from the
field, including 6-of-21 from three-point range. The Oilers made
17-of-21 free throws and out-rebounded LSSU, 34-31.
LSSU shot 43.1 percent from the field, including 3-of-13 from
three-point range. The Lakers made 9-of-14 free throws and totaled
19 turnovers.
Findlay will play Wayne State in the GLIAC semifinal game
Saturday at Ferris State. Michigan Tech and FSU will meet in the
other semifinal.
