Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio - Lake Superior State scored two
unanswered goals in the third period, but came up a goal short
during Friday's 3-2 loss at Ohio State.
Ohio State (9-11-5 overall, 8-6-3-1 Central Collegiate Hockey
Association) jumped two points ahead of the Lakers (13-13-1
overall, 8-10-1-1 CCHA) in the standings with the win.
As of release time, the Lakers were in seventh place in the
CCHA while OSU moved into a tie with Alaska for fifth place.
The Buckeyes led 2-0 at the end of the first period. Tanner
Fritz netted the game-winning goal for Ohio State at 3:49 of the
second period.
At the 48 second mark of the third period, sophomore
forward Chris Ciotti (9-6--15) scored the first goal for LSSU on
assists from junior forward Dan Radke (3-8--11) and sophomore
forward Buddy Robinson (7-6--13).
Senior forward Ben Power (4-3--7) scored LSSU's other goal
of the night from junior defenseman Andrew Perrault (1-8--9).
LSSU starting goaltender Kevin Kapalka made four saves and
allowed one goal before Kevin Murdock entered the game after
Buckeye Riley Simpson's goal at 6:05 of the first. Murdock (8-8-0)
played 53:09, making 36 saves and allowing two goals.
He suffered the loss for the Lakers.
OSU's Brady Hjelle (7-8-4) recorded the win for the Buckeyes,
totaling 34 saves.
The Lakers were 0-for-4 on the power play while Ohio State was
1-for-2.
