Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - Lake Superior State suffered a 2-1 overtime
loss against Bemidji State Saturday to split its third straight
Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. The Lakers are 7-4-1
overall and 3-3-0 in the WCHA. During Saturday play the Lakers are
2-4-0 overall.
LSSU and BSU (5-7-2 overall, 5-4-1 WCHA) played to a
scoreless first period. Junior defenseman Kevin Czuczman (4-6--10)
netted the Lakers' lone goal at 14:52 of the second period.
Czuczman's defensive partner Eric Drapluk (4-2--6) and junior
forward Chris Ciotti (1-4--5) added the assists on the goal.
Bemidji State tied the game 1-1 at 19:19 of the second. LSSU and
BSU were unable to score in the third, forcing at five-minute
sudden-death overtime. At the one minute mark of the extra session,
BSU's Cory Ward netted the game-winning goal.
Senior netminder Kevin Kapalka (4-3-1) made 23 saves for the
Lakers, while Andrew Walsh stopped 25 shots on goal for the
Beavers.
The Lakers were 0-for-3 and held Bemidji to 0-for-5 on the
power-play. They dropped to 1-2-1 in overtime games this
season.
