Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State defeated Alaska
4-1 during its first Western Collegiate Hockey Association game.
Freshman forward Alex Globke scored twice as the Lakers improved
5-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the WCHA.
Alaska dropped to 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-0 WCHA.
The Lakers and Nanooks, playing in front of an impressive Pink
in the Rink and Great Lake State Weekend crowd of 2,923, were
unable to score in the first period. Alaska's Trevor Campbell
netted UAF's lone goal at the six-minute mark of the second
period.
Globke, the WCHA's top freshman scorer with 4-6--10, tallied
LSSU's first goal of the game at 12:12 of the second from junior
defenseman Kevin Czuczman (3-3--6). Sophomore defenseman Eric
Drapluk (2-1--3) netted the game-winning goal at 16:04 from senior
forward Dan Radke (1-7--8), who is tied for second in the WCHA in
assists.
Globke scored his second goal of the evening from Drapluk and
Radke. Junior forward Andrew Dommett (3-1--4) finished the Lakers'
scoring at 5:35 of the third.
The Lakers fended off Alaska's power play, holding the Nanooks
to 0-for-8. LSSU was 0-for-5.
Senior netminder Kevin Kapalka (2-0-1) made 29 saves for the
Lakers, while Davis Jones (2-2-1) tallied 21 saves for the
Nanooks.
