Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State suffered a 3-1
loss to Ferris State Saturday and was swept in a series for the
first time this season.
The Lakers are 9-6-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the Western Collegiate
Hockey Association. The Lakers sit tied for sixth in the WCHA with
10 points as of release time. FSU leads the league with 22 points
and is 13-2-2 overall and 10-0-2 in the WCHA.
The Bulldogs led 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Justin
DeMartino scored at 3:43, and Matt Robertson scored at 9:53 during
a five-minute FSU power play.
Freshman forward Alex Globke (8-9--17) tallied the lone Laker
goal at 14:06 of the second, leaving LSSU down 2-1. Senior forwards
Dan Radke (3-11--14) and Colin Campbell (6-7--13) notched the
assists on Globke's goal.
LSSU hit the crossbar during a power play midway through the
third period and failed to score with its goalie pulled in favor of
an extra attacker with 1:11 left in the third. FSU scored an
empty-net goal at 18:58.
Senior goaltender Kevin Kapalka (5-4-1) made 19 saves for LSSU,
while CJ Motte (13-0-2) totaled 36 saves for Ferris State. The
Lakers were 0-for-6 on the power-play, and FSU went 1-for-4.
The Lakers close the first half of the season Dec. 13-14 at
Alaska Anchorage.
