ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's and women's golf teams competed at the Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday with the women placing 10th and the men placing 11th.
Kiera Cotter (Etobicoke, Ont.) had the top showing for the LSSU women's team, rising to as h/igh as 4th overall on the individual leaderboard after shooting +4 in the opening round (76/86). Jesse Hellebuyck (Almont, Mich.) finished second amongst her teammates with a two-day total of 177 strokes (89/88), and Natalie Kellogg (Montague, Mich.) was not far behind, improving by four strokes in the second round for a total of 180 (92/88). Mackenzie Davidson (Rockford, Mich.) rounded out the lineup with a two-day total of 184 (89/95).
Daichi Nichisu (Kobe, Japan) used a consistent showing (77/77) on his way to the top finish amongst his teammates and a 19th place showing overall on the individual leaderboard. Meanwhile, Charley Stephen (Oshawa, Ont.) used a strong opening round to rise as high as 8th overall before finishing with a two-day total of 155 (73/82). Kabir Singh Chadha (La Verne, Calif.) would then improve by four strokes in the second round for a two-day total of 160 strokes (82/78). Yongbo Guan (Qingdao, China) and Chris Ruiz (Monrovia, Calif.) rounded out the lineup with respective totals of 162 (83/79) and 164 (82/82).
The Lakers return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 when they wrap up the fall season at the Panther Invitational at Gull Lake Golf Course.
