THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's golf program opened their fall season by placing 2nd overall at the LTU Collegiate Kickoff on Wednesday.
Newcomer Daichi Nishisu (Kobe, Japan) led the way for the Lakers with a 4th place finish overall on the individual leaderboard after posting a three-round total of 224 (78, 76, 70) including shooting two under par on the final day of competition. Yongbo Guan (Qingdao, China) and Charley Stephen (Oshawa, Ont.) each finished tied for 11th in the standings with a total score of 235 (71, 85, 79 and 81, 78, 76 respectively) with Guan posting the second best round overall for the Lakers when he opened the tournament with a one-under par showing in the first round. Ashtin Mount (Glendora, Cali.) was not far behind at 236 (81, 79, 76) strokes after three rounds, improving on each round of competition, and Marino Pisani (Houghton, Mich.) used a strong finish in the third round to climb 17 spots on the individual leaderboard to a 27th place finish at 243 (85, 81, 77) strokes.
Rounding out the lineup for the Lakers was Jackson Theiler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Charles Johnson (Green Bay, Wis.) who were each competing as individuals with respective three-round totals of 240 (77, 79, 84) and 266 (85, 95, 86).
