Box Score As her march toward history continues,
Grace Bradford played a phenomenal game against Wisconsin Parkside Saturday afternoon, though Lake Superior State lost 62-52 to the Rangers at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Bradford posted a huge stat line of 16 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Dara Capaldi also scored 16 for LSSU (5-15, 2-10 GLIAC).
The Rangers (11-9, 6-6 GLIAC) struggled to shoot for much of the game, as LSSU's defense harried outside shooters while clogging the paint. Lake State outscored Parkside 24-12 in the lane, while holding the opposition to 6-for-21 from three-point range through three quarters.
The Lakers shot extremely well in the third, going 50% from the field, while holding the Rangers to just 28.6%. But Parkside responded with three triples in the fourth quarter and got to the free throw line as well, shooting 12-of-13 from the stripe.
Seyyane Matthew scored six points, grabbed eight rebounds and hammered away two blocks. She now has multiple blocks in five of her last six games, and the first-year player is quickly becoming one of the most-feared defensive forwards in the conference.
With 14 rebounds, Bradford moves closer to the Lake Superior State career rebounding record. At 997 for her career, she's three shy of tying Marti Wallace's record of 1,000, and four shy of setting the record outright. Wallace is a 1983 graduate and Class of 1997 Hall of Famer at Lake Superior State.
The Lakers next head to Michigan Tech on Thursday, then face Northern Michigan in Marquette, MI on Saturday. Watch those games on FloCollege, the official home of the GLIAC.
