SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State women's tennis
team improved its record to 2-0 after beating Saginaw Valley
State, 6-3, Friday at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
"The doubles teams really set the tone for the match today,"
said LSSU first-year coach Tom Linhart, whose team won its 2009
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. "They came
out with an aggressive mentality and really played well, giving the
team a lot of momentum as we entered the singles."
Lake State went on to win four out of the six singles matches in
straight sets.
Lakers play host to Northwood at 10 a.m. Saturday
at the Norris Center.
