SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State's women's tennis
team defeated Tiffin, 7-2, Friday for its first home victory of the
season.
LSSU's No. 3 doubles team of Tess Marton (Toronto, Ont.)
and Kaitlynn Hutchinson (Cadillac, Mich.) blanked Tiffin, 8-0. The
Lakers' No. 2 duo of Erin Wiethoff (Escanaba, Mich.) and
Helen Sheridan (Mattawan, Mich.) won, 8-4.
Hutchinson, Wiethoff, and Sheridan also came out on top in
singles competition, along with Adrienne DiVito at No. 1 and Katie
Watchorn at No. 3.
"Today was a solid win against a much-improved Tiffin team,
said LSSU coach Tom
Linhart." We truly came out and played a focused match and will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow's match against Wayne
State."
The Lakers improved their record to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference, while Tiffin fell
to 3-11 overall and 1-8 in the GLIAC. The
Lakers will be back in action Saturday at 10 a.m. in the
Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
