SAULT STE. MARIE - Wayne State won two of three doubles matches
to set the tone for Saturday's 5-4 women's tennis victory over Lake
Superior State. The Warriors (5-2 overall, 5-2 Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and Lakers (4-5 overall, 2-5
GLIAC) split their singles matches.
"We played another very focused match today,"
LSSU coach Tom Linhart
said. "Despite the loss our
confidence is without a doubt up.
Wayne State has always been a
strong team in our conference."
LSSU's Katie Watchorn claimed a 6-3, 1-0 (retired) win at No. 3
singles, and Erin Wiethoff and Kaitlynn Hutchinson won in straight
sets at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Hutchinson and Tess Marton claimed an
8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.
The Lakers wrap up their homestand with a match at 11 a.m.
Sunday against Findlay.
