SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's tennis
team ended its six-match home stretch with a 5-4 loss to
Ashland on Saturday. The Lakers are now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Holly Daniel (Zeeland, Mich.) is 5-0 at No. 5 singles
for the season after beating her AU opponent, 6-3, 6-4.
The No. 1 doubles team of Adrienne DiVito (Washington,
Mich.) and Tess Marton (Toronto, Ont.) won, 9-8 (7-3). Daniel and
Teodora Gavric won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.
Kaitlynn Hutchinson rounded out LSSU's wins at No. 4 singles,
defeating Ashland, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
The Lakers play at Spring Arbor Sept. 16 and Aquinas
Sept. 17.
