SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State opened its women's tennis season with a 9-0 home victory over Aquinas Friday at the Arbuckle Studenty Activity Center.

At No. 2 doubles, junior Holly Daniel (Zeeland, Mich.) and freshman Lucy LaCosta (San Diego, Cal.) played to a tie-breaker, defeating Aquinas 9-8 (7-4). LSSU Nos. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams defeated Aquinas 8-4.

LSSU continues tournament play at 7 p.m. Friday with a non-conference match against Upper Peninsula rival Michigan Tech.
