SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's tennis
team defeated Ferris State 6-3 Friday in the Arbuckle Student
Activity Center. LSSU beat the Bulldogs for the first time
since March 26, 2006.
Kaitlynn Hutchinson played a grueling match at No. 4 singles,
defeating FSU 6-7 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4), 10-3. Hutchinson is 5-2 in
singles play against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference opponents this season. Tess Marton, at No. 2 singles,
won 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 over the Bulldogs. Marton is 8-4 overall at
No. 2 singles.
Erin Anderson-Scott and partner Sarah Awe defeated Ferris State
8-1 at No. 1 doubles. The duo is 9-3 at No. 1 singles overall and
4-3 against GLIAC opponents.
LSSU is 8-4 overall and 4-3 in GLIAC play. The Lakers continue
GLIAC play Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. in the Arbuckle Student Activity
Center against Grand Valley.
