SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State was defeated by
Grand Valley State, 5-4, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference women's tennis Saturday. The Lakers are an even
4-4 in the GLIAC and 8-5 overall.
Erin Anderson-Scott defeated GVSU at No. 1 singles in a
third-set tie-breaker, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2. Kaitlynn Hutchinson,
playing No. 4 singles, defeated Grand Valley State, 6-3, 1-6,
6-4, in a another third-set tie-breaker. Sarah Awe rounded out
singles play with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.
Anderson-Scott, Hutchinson and Awe are on a four-match win
streak in singles play.
The No. 3 duo of Holly Daniel and Meagan Grey defeated
GVSU, 8-6.
The Lakers hit the road Oct. 5-7 to take on Wayne State,
Hillsdale and Findlay in conference play.
