SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State faced Wayne State
in women's tennis Friday at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center
and suffered an 8-1 loss. The Lakers hosted Hillsdale College
Saturday and lost 6-3 to the Chargers.
Erin Anderson-Scott was LSSU's lone winner against the Warriors,
defeating WSU 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. At No. 5 singles, Holly
Daniel lost a third-set tiebreaker to WSU 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 10-6.
The Lakers was 1-1 in three-set singles matches against
Hillsdale. Anderson-Scott, at No. 2 singles, was defeated 7-6
(7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 10-7. Tess Marton was victorious over Hillsdale
at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 6-4. Daniel defeated the Chargers
6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 5 singles.
In doubles play, Kaitlynn Hutchinson and Daniel defeated
Hillsdale 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
LSSU is 4-7 overall and in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference play. The Lakers host Findlay Sunday at 10 a.m. in
the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
WSU improved to 10-1 and Hillsdale to 4-5.
