SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State defeated Ashland
5-4 in a women's tennis match Sunday at the Arbuckle Student
Activity Center. The Lakers improved to 2-1 overall and in the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Holly Daniel and Kaitlynn Hutinson were successful over AU at
No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 victory. At No. 1 doubles Erin
Anderson-Scott and Sarah Awe played a close match, losing 9-8
(7-6). Tess Marton and Teodora Gavric fell short, 9-8 (7-4) at No.
3 doubles.
The Lakers earned the victory over Ashland in singles
competition, winning at Nos. 2 through 5. Anderson-Scott, Marton,
Hutchinson, and Daniel were all victorious in straight sets.
The Lakers head to Ohio for three GLIAC matches starting Sept.
13 at Lake Erie.
