SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State women's tennis team fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies this afternoon by a score of 7-2. The Lakers (2-13, 2-10 GLIAC) were able to pick up wins in the top doubles pairing and in #2 singles.
The top pair of the Lakers Erin Anderson-Scott and Sarah Awe (8-6) defeated Kwang Suthijindawong and Sandra Cvetanovic (13-1) by an 8-2 margin. The Huskies' top pair came into the match previously undefeated.
In singles, Awe was the only Laker to pick up a win, defeating her opponent Cvetanovic 6-0, 6-2. Laura Roberts took her match in #3 singles to three sets, winning the first, before falling to Emilia Tenizbaeva 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Today's match put an end to the Lakers' regular season, as they will return in the spring for a five game schedule against non-conference opponents. GLIAC Championships begin next weekend.
