SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State women's
tennis team picked up their first win of the season with a
6-3 victory over Ashland University. The Lakers were able to
capture the top two doubles matches 8-4 and 8-6. The Lakers would
also capture the first four singles matches to secure the
victory.
Two Lakers captured their first career wins during the victory.
Freshman Laura Fernandez and Sophomore Laura
Roberts teamed up to win the second doubles matching 8-6.
Partners Erin Anderson-Scott and Sarah
Awe improved to 2-1 together on the season with an 8-4
victory.
The singles competition turned out nearly identical to the
doubles with the Lakers getting victories from their top four
matchups. The singles victories for Fernandez and Roberts also
marked their first career singles victories as Lakers.
The Lakers will host Walsh on Sunday (9/14) beginning at 10 am
in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
