EDINBORO, Pa.- Lake Superior State women's tennis fell in a tightly contested matchup against non conference opponent Edinboro during Saturday's matchup, losing to the Scots 5-4. The Lakers were able to split the singles matchups with Edinboro, however were bested in #2 and #3 doubles.
Erin Anderson-Scott led the way for the Lakers (2-10) in the singles portion, picking up a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Oranza Carillo in the top singles matchup. Laura Roberts and Laura Fernandez also picked up victories in #3 and #4 singles, respectively. Roberts picked up a win over Marija Tmusic 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Fernandez won 6-3, 6-2 over her opponent, RyAnne' Baldwin.
In doubles, the Lakers only victory came from Anderson-Scott and Sarah Awe teaming up for the 8-2 victory over Carillo and Katie Allen. The Fighting Scots picked up the match victory with the difference coming from their victories in #2 and #3 doubles.
The Lakers will next play at Mercyhurst on Sunday March 1 along with the men's teams also squaring off.
