Box Score MADISON, Wis. - Lake Superior State tied Wisconsin in overtime
3-3 Friday at the Kohl Center and won the shootout 3-2 in six
rounds. The Lakers (4-0-1) remain undefeated in non-conference
play.
The 12th-ranked Lakers, playing in front of a crowd of 7,022,
took a 3-1 lead in the first period, scoring three goals in the
first five minutes of the game. Freshman forward Alex Globke
(2-5--7) opened the scoring at 33-second mark of the first,
drawing assists from senior defenseman Matt Bruneteau (1-1--2) and
forward Dan Radke (1-4--5).
Radke tallied a power-play goal at 3:23 from Globke and junior
forward Stephen Perfetto (1-5--6). Senior forward Colin Campbell
(2-3--5) rounded out LSSU's scoring at 4:09 of the first and got an
assist from junior defenseman Kevin Czuczman (2-2--4).
The 13th-ranked Badgers (2-2-1) netted their first goal, a
power-play goal, at 16:21 of the first. After a scoreless
second period Wisconsin's Tyler Barnes tallied two goals in the
third, tying the game 3-3 at 18:38 with an extra-attacker.
After a scoreless five-minute sudden-death overtime period, the
Lakers and Badgers headed into a shootout. Wisconsin had to face
LSSU senior goaltender Kevin Kapalka, who took a 10-3 all-time
shootout record into the extra session.
U-W took a 1-0 lead before Campbell tied the shootout 1-1
in the second round. Michael Mersch of Wisconsin and Andrew
Perrault both scored in the fourth round, tying the shootout
2-2.
Perfetto gave LSSU the 3-2 shootout win in the sixth round of
the shootout
Landon Peterson (1-2-1) made 22 saves for Wisconsin while
Kapalka (1-0-1) stopped 41 shots on goal. Both LSSU and the Badgers
were 1-for-3 on the power play.
